How to Keep Your Skin Hydrated in Hot Weather

Does Moisturising Feel Difficult When You’re Sweating?

We imagine that many of you in Singapore are also experiencing plenty of hot days.

As the weather becomes warmer, have you ever found yourself thinking:

Common skincare concerns on hot and humid days

We completely understand!

During hot and humid days, even a small amount of movement can make you sweat.

When your face already feels damp and sticky, applying Aquatect Gel on top may not feel very comfortable.

However, sweaty skin doesn’t necessarily mean well-moisturised skin.

Sweat can make the surface of your skin feel damp or even sticky. Because of this, it’s easy to assume that your skin isn’t dry.

However, moisture from sweat is different from the hydration provided by skincare.

As sweat evaporates, moisture from the skin may also be lost.

Moisture loss as sweat evaporates

Therefore, even when your skin looks dewy from sweat, it may still become dry.

That is why moisturising with Aquatect Gel remains important.

You may be wondering:

“If the gel is going to come off with my sweat, is there any point in applying it?”

Some of the gel on the surface may indeed come away with sweat.

However, completely skipping moisturiser until your skin stops sweating may leave dry or sensitive skin feeling uncomfortable.

In this issue, we’ll show you how to use Aquatect Gel more comfortably, even during the hottest and sweatiest days.

On Sweaty Days, Moisturise in Two Stages

Our recommendation is to divide your moisturising routine into two stages:

1

Apply a small amount while you’re still sweating

2

Apply your usual amount once the sweating has settled

Follow the steps below and adjust the amount according to how your skin feels.

Gently Blot Away Sweat

When you sweat, begin by gently pressing a towel or tissue against your skin.

Rather than rubbing or wiping, allow the material to absorb the sweat.

This is especially important when your skin feels sensitive, as repeated friction may place additional stress on dry or delicate skin.

The key is to blot, not rub.

Gently blot sweat instead of rubbing

During hot and humid days, you may need to remove sweat from your face several times throughout the day. Repeatedly rubbing the skin each time may feel uncomfortable, particularly for those with dry or sensitive skin.

For this reason, we recommend choosing a towel that feels soft against the skin and absorbs moisture well.

Apply a Light First Layer While You Are Still Sweating

When you’re sweating heavily, applying a generous amount of Aquatect Gel may feel uncomfortable.

For example, if you’re still sweating after a shower or workout, begin by applying less Aquatect Gel than usual.

Applying a small amount of Aquatect Gel

This first layer isn’t intended to complete your entire moisturising routine.

Instead, it’s a light layer that helps prevent your skin from being left completely without moisturiser while you wait for the sweating to settle.

You may still be thinking:

“Does it really help if some of the gel comes off with my sweat?”

It’s true that some of the gel on the surface of the skin may be removed by sweat.

However, this doesn’t mean that applying it is completely pointless.

For dry or sensitive skin, leaving the skin without any moisturiser until the sweating stops may feel even less comfortable.

While you’re still sweating, apply a small amount of gel.

Apply Your Usual Amount Once the Sweating Has Settled

Once you’ve stopped sweating, apply your usual amount of Aquatect Gel.

Even if the surface of your skin feels sticky after sweating, areas such as the cheeks, around the eyes, and around the mouth may still feel dry.

During hot and humid days, dryness may also make the skin feel rough.

For this reason, we recommend applying another layer to areas that need additional moisture.

Try Chilled Aquatect Gel

We have one more recommendation for hot days.

Try storing your Aquatect Gel in the refrigerator and using it chilled.

OUR REFRESHING FAVOURITE

We like to call this “Chilled Gel”!

Chilled Aquatect Gel

Applying cool Aquatect Gel can feel especially refreshing:

✓ After a shower

✓ After exercise

✓ After returning home

✓ First thing in the morning

Even at times when you feel too hot to apply anything to your skin, chilled gel may feel more comfortable and pleasant to use.

Aquatect Gel may be stored in the refrigerator compartment.

However, there’s one important point to remember.

IMPORTANT

Once you begin storing Aquatect Gel in the refrigerator, please continue keeping it refrigerated until you’ve finished using it.

Repeatedly moving it between refrigerated and room-temperature conditions may cause condensation, which could affect the product.

It’s perfectly fine to take the gel out briefly while dispensing the amount you need.

After placing it in your hands, gently spread it before applying it to your face. This helps the gel feel pleasantly cool without being too cold.

Keep Your Routine Comfortable on Hot and Humid Days

In Singapore, sweating is often unavoidable.

The important thing is to remember that skin may still become dry during hot and humid days, and to adjust how you apply Aquatect Gel according to how much you’re sweating.

01  Gently blot sweat instead of rubbing.

02  Apply a small amount while you’re still sweating.

03  Apply your usual amount once the sweating has settled.

04  On especially hot days, try using chilled Aquatect Gel.

We hope these tips help you continue using Aquatect Gel comfortably throughout the day!

*Skin condition and product experience may vary from person to person. Please adjust the amount and frequency of application according to how your skin feels.
